Capital Projects

At the Facilities Department, we are committed to building a campus environment that inspires learning, fosters innovation, and serves our community. We are excited to announce a series of upcoming construction projects designed to modernize our infrastructure and enhance the daily experience for our students, faculty, and staff.

We understand that campus construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience as we work to upgrade our facilities. Our goal is to minimize impact on your academic and daily routines while making significant, long-term improvements to our shared spaces.

Throughout these projects, we will provide regular updates regarding timelines, site access, and progress milestones. Thank you for your support as we continue to shape the future of our campus.

Facilities Update 

Capital Projects

Physical Education and Field House Building Replacements

Broward is completing work on the soldier pile retaining wall at the fieldhouse site, and is beginning to haul out materials and begin site preparation for the Fieldhouse building construction. The gymnasium building has a completed foundation and is approximately half framed out. Final Completion (of the buildings) is estimated for the end of July 2027, and demo/project completion is estimated for October 2027. With completion moving closer to the end of Spring semester it was decided to push opening to the Fall semester 2027.

Student Housing

The Housing and Dining Designs have been submitted to DSA, and both have undergone constructability review. The design team is addressing the comments before re-submitting to DSA. The project is now funded by the Measure I Bond, and SB169 State Lease-leaseback funding is still in process. The prequalification and bid process is expected to commence Summer 2026, and construction is estimated to begin in October 2026.

Solar Microgrid

Design was submitted to DSA in December 2024, and they are looking to resubmit by end of April 2026. Construction is TBD at this time, but estimated for 2026.

Del Norte Healthcare & Revitalization

The Modernization of DA and DM buildings phase of this project has been submitted to DSA for approval. We are anticipating going out to bid on this phase in Summer, with construction in Fall 2026.

The Nursing Hub Project, which will include demolition of 4 existing portable buildings and a storage shed, is in the design and permitting process (CUP, CEQA, CGS). We are anticipating submitting this part of the project to DSA in the Summer and hoping for approval by Fall 2026, with construction early Spring 2027.

There are two potential offsite locations for our nursing/healthcare related classes. Del Norte staff is exploring options at Sutter Coast Hospital and locations with the City of Crecent City.

RBC A and B Demolition (Administration and Forum)

Staff is working to demolish the end-of-life Old Administration and Forum Buildings. We are working through the permitting and planning documents (CEQA, Lead and Asbestos Assessment, Historical Assessment), the plan set is submitted to DSA and the hope is to begin demolition in Summer of 2026.

Career Technical Education Building

Design shifted to accommodate the new program needs and should be wrapped up April 2026 for re-submittal to DSA. Estimated to go out to bid Summer 2026, with construction estimated for late Fall 2026. The project is now estimated for completion for Fall 2027.

ADA Updates

General ADA updates have been made around campus, to include parking and lighting improvements, and modifications to existing door push buttons. In order to stay ahead of any additional issues that could arise in the future, the District will be working with a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) from Jensen Highes to help update CR's ADA Transition Plan and Self Assessment.

Community Stadium Upgrade (Phase 1)

Project Completed Summer 2025.

Utility Infrastructure Replacement and Seismic Strengthening (UIR-SS)

Project reached completion November 2023.

EcoGreen Lighting Retrofit

This project was completed in Fall 2023.

Creative Arts Drop and Replace

Project Completed Fall 2024.

Del Norte Center Remediation Work, Building Repair, and LRC Re-roof Project

Project Completed Fall 2025.
